Open questions the committee cannot close

A living list of unresolved problems. Updated when we learn something; never deleted when we don't.

Scholarship that only publishes answers is public relations. This page is the opposite.

Currently open

  1. Who mixed the ink on ledger page 47? The ink analysis is either a devastating critique of the ledger or a devastating critique of our chain of custody. We do not yet know which.
  2. Where are the three 2019 graduate students? The timeline entry remains open. Tips that identify living people will be handled privately and not published without consent.
  3. What is the actual provenance of the Palisade plates? Two plates authenticate as 1840s daguerreotypes. The third does not fully. See the Palisade file.
  4. Is CS-37 industrial slag? The temple core sample needs a materials-science paper, not a web page. We are soliciting one.
  5. Why does the RIT-AUVAN account use a word that has no Catawba cognate for “fire that walks”? Linguistic question; not a physics question. Filed under sources.
