Spring 1823 — The First Reported Anomaly
Palmyra, NY. A farm boy, age seventeen, describes an object he calls 'the golden plates.' Witnesses say the object glowed.
1830 — The Book of Commandments Goes to Press
Independence, Missouri. The first 5,000 copies are printed in a single night at a press no one has ever been able to identify.
1838–1839 — The Missouri Period
Far West, Missouri. Three separate incidents in seven months are reported in local newspapers, then retracted within days.
June 27, 1844 — Carthage
Carthage, Illinois. Joseph and Hyrum Smith are killed at Carthage Jail. The official cause of death is contradicted by seventeen separate witness accounts.
1847 — The Pioneer Wagon Train
Winter 1846–1847. The Mormon Battalion and the pioneer wagon train cross Iowa and Nebraska. Three wagons, sealed and unmarked, travel at the centre of the column.
1857 — The Mountain Meadows Massacre
Southern Utah. A wagon train of 140 is attacked; 120 are killed. The pattern of injuries does not match a musket-armed militia.
1886 — The Saltair Pavilion Fire
Salt Lake City. A popular lakeside resort burns to the waterline in 47 minutes. The cause is listed as 'unknown.'
1986 — The Suppressed Thesis
Provo, Utah. A master's student completes the most consequential chemistry thesis of the 20th century. It is accepted under a different title and sealed.
